Shaquille O’Neal Out For Friday With Thumb Injury

By Kevin Roberts • on February 26, 2010 • Filed under: Fantasy Basketball, NBA News

Cleveland Cavaliers’ center Shaquille O’Neal sustained what the Cavaliers are calling a “significant injury” to his thumb, after being fouled on a play by Kendrick Perkins while playing the Boston Celtics.

Initial reports suggest it is a sprained thumb, and that O’Neal will likely miss a few games, and could even be out longer.

O’Neal is scheduled to see a doctor and get an MRI on the thumb once the swelling subsides, and has officially been ruled out for Friday night’s game.

Fantasy Perspective: O’Neal has been putting up strong performances of late, and has been a solid fantasy contributor. If you need a body in your lineup while he’s out, you can lean on Cleveland’s own Anderson Varejao in the interim, and we’ll keep you updated on his status as more news is known.
