NBA Friday Injury Round-Up: Virus Circling Orlando Magic
There are quite a few big names hitting the deck in the NBA right now, which has direct implications on fantasy basketball lineups for daily fantasy basketball games and leagues.
Read on for all the big names and their status updates for Friday’s NBA and fantasy basketball action:
Dwight Howard, C, Orlando Magic
Howard reportedly is battling a stomach virus, and is “doubtful” to play, according to Josh Robbins. There’s a chance Howard could play if he suddenly feels better, but it’s suggested to leave the inside beast out of your fantasy lineup for the day.
Jameer Nelson, PG, Orlando Magic
Just like Orlando’s big man, Dwight Howard, their star point guard is suffering from a stomach virus, and is unlikely to take the court in Friday’s NBA action. It seems there’s a bug going around, so you might be best advised to simply stay away from Orlando Magic players for the time being.
J.J. Redick and Mikael Pietrus have also reportedly been battling the same virus, so like we said, steer clear of Magic players until this virus works it’s way out of Orlando.
Devin Harris, PG, New Jersey Nets
Harris is improving after injuring his knee a few games ago, but will reportedly miss Friday’s game. A weekend return is possible, but we’d wait until the beginning of next week to see how the knee feels when he returns.
Kevin Durant, SF, Oklahoma City Thunder
We weren’t kidding when we said there were some big names not expected to suit up for Friday, and it doesn’t stop at Durant. Durant took a spill earlier in the week and isn’t safe to play until further notice. The injury isn’t expected to be serious, but weigh on the side of caution and hold off on him until early next week if you can afford to.
Joe Johnson, G/F, Atlanta Hawks
Star Atlanta Hawks combo forward Joe Johnson had surgery on his injured elbow, as as reported earlier, is expected to be out for 4-6 weeks.
Marcus Camby, C, Portland Trail Blazers
Camby practiced on Thursday and could make a return to the lineup Friday night, despite issues with a sore knee.
